6/12/2011 – Meet 14 week old “Ryleigh”

We picked her up Saturday from Pup Squad dog rescue. They think she is a labrador/golden retriever mix. She was dropped off with out any brothers or sisters and without any information on her parents. She definitely has the goofy lab traits! We hope Chloe inherited all Shelby’s good mothering skills because she is going to need them with Ryleigh. She is crate trained, that is a big plus. She met Bella, Leyla and Kenzii (Christopher’s dogs) today and went for a swim with Chloe and Tyler.

3/28/2011 – Barons Creekside (Fredericksburg, Texas)

Over spring break, Marci and I spent a few days in the Texas Hill Country. We found this wonderful place to stay just outside of Fredericksburg called Barons Creekside. We were there for three nights, but honestly, I could have stayed for a week……..it was “that” relaxing!

Here’s a couple of pictures I took while walking around the property. The first one shows the cabin that we stayed in…………..

3/06/2011 – Snowy Egret

Marci and I ran over to Brazos Bend State Park (BBSP) Saturday evening and walked around 40 acre lake.  We sat down on the edge of the bank (keeping one eye open for any alligators) and captured this Snowy Egret fishing around the vegetation.

2/28/2011 – Friday at Bolivar Flats

Here’s three more images from last Fridays shoot at Bolivar.   There wasn’t a variety of birds to shoot but for about 20 minutes, the lighting in this particular area was spectacular!

2/27/2011 – Something a little different

When I took these images at Bolivar Flats it was still dark outside (well before sunrise).  I mounted my camera to a tripod and set my shutter speed to 30 seconds.  My goal was to flatten out the waves and make the ocean look like “ice”.  I also wanted to get a sense of movement in the clouds.  This was my first attempt at long exposure photography and hope to do this more often.

2/26/2011 – Great Blue Heron Silhouette

When I arrived at Bolivar yesterday morning, I found another Great Blue sitting on a post nearby where we park. It was extremely foggy but once the sun started to break through the fog, it made for another great silhouette opportunity.

2/23/2011 – Whooping Cranes

Here’s a few more images from this past weekend. On Saturday afternoon, we drove to Rockport Texas and boarded a tour boat called the “Skimmer”. Along with 30 other bird enthusiasts, we went to “Aransas National Wildlife Refuge” in search of the endangered Whooping Cranes, who migrate here every winter from Northern Canada.
